Inverness Music School

Welcome to Inverness Music School

The School was founded in September 2012 with a view to providing high quality professional tuition to students throughout the Highlands. We now have our main School which is set in a peaceful rural setting 20 minutes west of Inverness near the village of Kiltarlity and also our new school which will serve the Ullapool area and operate initially from Braemore Hall just south of the village.

We currently offer tuition on all brass instruments, sax, flute, clarinet, fiddle and piano to students of all ages from absolute beginner up to Diploma standard. We aim to promote a high standard of tuition and whilst the Music School does not focus entirely on exams, we are extremely proud to retain a 100% pass rate over a period of 12 years of teaching. As a rule, students progress at a rate of two grades per year and commonly as much as four grades when learning more than one instrument.

We provide our students with an individually tailored, thorough and well rounded musical education which focuses not only on learning to the play an instrument, but also an in depth understanding of music theory and history. We also place a strong emphasis on independent learning, building confidence in performance and promoting the most effective methods of learning with regard to music as a whole subject but also with relevance to the wider sphere of education.
